WyoClimbers is accepting applications for the following position:

JOB TITLE: WyoClimbers’ Events and Marketing Director

REPORTS TO: WyoClimbers’ Executive Director

JOB OBJECTIVE: The WyoClimbers’ Events and Marketing Director shall support the advancement of the WyoClimbers mission by successfully executing community events that strive to protect, educate, and celebrate the sport of climbing in Central Wyoming, as well as, promote the WyoClimbers brand through social media channels. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

International Climbers Festival:

  • Understand the mission of WyoClimbers and be able to convey this to sponsors, athletes, community members, and festival attendees.

  • Understand that ICF serves as WyoClimbers’ largest fundraiser, which helps sustain its employees and funds many other programs  

  • Coordinate and be responsive to all Festival contacts which include, and are not limited to, sponsors and local businesses (include ED with these meetings/ emails to better help promote brand and organization), landowners, clinicians, athletes, artists, and volunteers.

  • Hire and supervise an ICF Marketing Assistant to manage and oversee all ICF marketing to maximize event participation and fulfill sponsor advertising requirements.

  • Hire and supervise an ICF Volunteer Coordinator to help recruit, organize, and manage festival volunteers, including delegating responsibilities to the core volunteer base 

  • Execute all ICF planning including sub-events such as the trade fair, art crawl, keynote speakers, film festival, limestone rodeo, etc.

  • Maintain and update the ICF website, ticketing platform, and oversee online signups

  • Organize and market festival clinics and athletes/sponsors/gear for each.

  • Maintain/ update event permits and coordinate with local Forest Service and State Park

  • Maintain/ update the “Festival Director Training Document

  • Maintain a positive image within the Lander community and wider climbing community.

  • Effectively collaborate and report status of ICF with the Executive Director during monthly meetings

WyoClimbers Community Events:

  • Organize at least one larger event (50+ people) per quarter with emphasis on community outreach and fundraising. 

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Outreach, Education, and Access/ Advocacy committee members to populate an annual “Events and Socials Calendar”

  • Work with local and national businesses/ organizations.

Marketing Support:

  • Maintain a consistent presence on all social media channels (WyoClimbers and Climbers Festival) with a minimum of five posts per month.

  • Work with the Executive Director to ensure the proper promotion for events and important WyoClimbers information. 

  • Maintain both WyoClimbers and ICF websites

  • Research and apply for appropriate grants to support Outreach and the organization (TAD, LIFT, etc.)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be self-motivated, organized, personable, and familiar with the interests of the Lander climbing community. Experience in event coordination and planning, especially in the outdoor industry, are preferred.

An ideal candidate will be adaptable, comfortable with uncertainty, good at asking for help from the board/ ED when necessary, collaborates well with others, and contributes realistic ideas to the planning process while also being able to deliver on them. Being able to carry out assigned tasks, sometimes with very little lead time, and able to meet goals and deadlines. Strong leadership skills including; clear vision, communication, and decision making under pressure are critical to success for this position. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Live in Lander.

  • Experience with marketing and project management.

  • Experience with brand relations in the outdoor industry and sponsor management.

  • Space to store and organize donations from sponsors.

TIMELINE:

This is a year-long position (September 1st- August 31st) hiring as soon as possible at 25-30 hours/week with allowance to exceed specified hours/week the week before ICF and during the event. Must be available for monthly meetings with outreach, board, and the executive director which may be attended virtually if necessary. 

COMPENSATION:

This position is paid hourly, 25-30 hrs/week at a rate of $24.50/hour with a health and wellness stipend of $50 dollars per month.
